This geometric leg sleeve cover up is currently a new work in progress by artist Jay-Cee Rademeyer of Zen Ink Professional Tattoo and Piercing Studio in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Geometric tattoo designs have existed since ancient times, and many of these symbols live on today. Based on simple mathematical patterns, these designs show the shapes hidden in nature like the triangle in a fox’s face or the rectangle in a tree’s trunk. Some of the oldest geometrical designs have ties to religious or spiritual practices, representing that which was believed to be ‘sacred.’ Many feature repeating lines that show perfect balance and symmetry.
Tattoos are nothing short of a style statement today, which reflects the attitude and fashion sense of whoever is wearing the tattoo. This is the reason why discerning tattoo lovers are so choosy about the designs and look for something different from the common and traditional designs. One of such cool design options is geometry tattoo designs, which carry a unique stylized look and also have a deep symbolic significance, which have together, taken these designs to the heights of popularity. Geometry is a science of perfection and symmetry, in which there is an amazing balance and harmony between elements and this is what is essentially depicted by geometric style tattoos in today’s culture.
This canvas was very unhappy with what his previous tattoo artist had hoped to achieve and was even considering blacking out his entire leg at a point, when Jay-Cee had the great idea of using geometric shapes and patterns to cover up the existing tattoos. This is currently what the work is looking like after 3 hours with plenty more exciting and original things to come. so keep watching this space to see how something terrible can be turned into something great!
