This bright and bold anagram tattoo was done by the head artist of Zen Ink Professional Tattoo and Piercing Studio in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nina Rademeyer.
Anagram tattoos are tattoos with words that have been flipped, mirrored or inverted. A design may consist of one word or a phrase. The word may either be flipped or inverted. With some designs, once the inversion is done, the meaning of the word may change and in some cases, it may contrast the original meaning. For instance, a word with a good meaning may be inverted and have a negative meaning. The word ‘love’ flipped can read ‘pain’ for example
Anagrams were independently invented by John Langdon in the 1970s. Where he featured them on covers of his books which led to them gaining popularity among the general public who then adopted them as tattoo art.
These tattoos are mainly placed on the forearm so that a person can flip it in one way or the other hence achieving the full effect of the anagram design. However, some people still place the tattoo in other locations like on the leg but its effect may not be as visible and obvious to the average person walking down the street or in a shopping mall.
This client had both of his children’s names done in this anagram style of tattooing with nice bright and bold colors to capture their likeness and personality. 4 Different tones of each color were inked into this outstanding bit of work.
Nina Rademeyer completed these anagram tattoos in a single session using the following: A Professional Rotary Tattoo Pen, Elite Cartridges, Dynamic Tattoo Ink, Fusion Tattoo Ink, Eternal Tattoo Ink, Green Soap, Stencil Stuff and Hustle Butter.
